As many parishes have started the new school year or will be starting soon, we are reminded of our call to service as educators of core academics and of the tenets of our Catholic faith. Additionally, we each have a responsibility as paid employees or volunteers to take or retake training to ensure we are establishing procedures and practices to protect the students and vulnerable adults in our faith communities.
Below is a link that will take readers to training options in the greater Los Angeles area. For those visiting this site from different regions, or states, there are similar resources in your Archdiocese. A link is included to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops ("USCCB") site which lists all the Archdioceses in the United States. Additionally, there are links to documents from the USCCB. Below is a prayer for all our children.
First Days of School Prayer
Dear Lord We Pray,
We pray for all our young ones to know they are loved by God and we care for all of them. May our children be safe from harm while we entrust them to others during the day. May their hearts and minds be always open to learning new things through a faith-driven lens. We pray they continue to thrive and experience the true joy of childhood and develop to become responsible and God loving adults. May the Lord shine light on their path.
